Weleda Organic Cough Elixir

Effective for a range of coughs. Helps soothe and relax the throat and chest, decrease mucous formation and aid expectoration.

Cough Elixir is not a cough suppressant. The cough is a protective mechanism for clearing breathing passages, which we do not try to suppress.

Althaea (Marshmallow root), Pimpinella (Aniseed), Drosera (the Sundew), and Ipecacuanha act together to help soothe irritated mucous membranes in the throat and chest, by reducing inflammation and relaxing constricted muscles.
Plantago (Plaintain), Thymus (Thyme) and Marrubium (Horehound) are expectorants, helping to break up and eliminate mucous.
Inula (Elecampane) helps relieve chest congestion.

Weleda Cough Elixir is manufactured using traditional herbal methods over three days. The dried herbs are soaked overnight, and then boiled as a decoction. Raw sugar and malt are added to produce a syrup, and upon cooling the homoeopathic liquids are added. After filtering, it is bottled and pasteurised. The raw sugar softens the herbal taste and acts as a preservative.

Recommended Dosage: Take one 5mL teaspoon (child) or two 5mL teaspoons (adult) in warm water up to every two to three hours, or as directed by your health care professional. Reduce the frequency of doses and then stop taking the remedy as relief is obtained.
